SXC strikes again!

Presumably because of a complaint from one of the users/uploaders, some of the topics in the SXC general chat forum have been locked with something like
"As this has long deviated from the original intent:
"5...
or more...
or less..."
it is being closed."
Remind me, someone, just what harm these threads were doing. I'm afraid it's slipped my mind.

A word of warning - don't try any of Dez's soup, either. Mikey Aperture did, and look what happened to him.
p.s. I'd shake hands with you , Mike, but I'm worried it might set you off again. The doctor did say 'not too much excitement', didn't he?

I understand that since the 'cloud' Mike has been going to the vets. I don't know if this clarifies your query. I've no idea what it does to Mike.
(For our non-UK contributors, vets = veterinary surgeon.)

Well, they banned all the games-topics and I can understand them, on some foras (plural for forums?) such topics would be treated as spam. I am not sure why they are banning people...
But I have some suspicions...

Well, I've stayed away from most of the fun and games (I'm a quiet guy at heart you see).So I just dropped a measured and moderate comment in at http://www.sxc.hu/forums/topic/17159/1 . I wonder if even that will bring down the wrath from above. I suppose I shall find out next time I try to log in :0)

They will lose more and more if they don't pull their fingers out, but maybe that's the name of the game. If it is,why are they so touchy about this website address being put up? You would think they would ask people to come here, save them the bother of pretending to give a toss.

It won't take long. I've taken all but my crap photos out of my gallery. Only the rejects remain. I'm trying to consolidate everything over here.

No, he's okay looking and talented. I had a look for him a while ago. Older than he appears on sxc.
RGB will be big. I believe we'll grow to sxc's size eventually, while I think they will fester away and ultimately close. It will all take time. But we have to work at it, or the growth won't continue.

Sorry to post on here but I'm a refugee from SXC. I'm trying to use the SXC import function to move my shots over but can't seem to find anythind other than the normal upload tool. Any ideas? It's great to see so many familiar names over here. I wasn't a very active participant in the forums on SXC but I did enjoy reading them and got some great constructive feedback from the more talented photographers at SXC. I'm sad to see the demise of SXC but with you guys over here I'm sure RGB will be a success.

Tried that but the only links on that page seem to go to SXC or the normal uploading page.

I remember you only had to write your SXC username and your SXC password and then click on the 'Grab your gallery' button and wait for a few minutes only.
But if this doesnt work for you, jazza or lennie could help you better.

I wonder if they've done something to stop it at the sxc end. I'll mention it to Lennie and Jay.

Thanks guys, I've uploaded a couple just to get me started, but the idea of moving everything across one at a time fills me with dread.
